Delta Ag was founded in April 2006 in regional New South Wales by eight foundation shareholders with the goal of creating a dynamic and independent, farmer‑focused rural supplies and advisory business in across regional Australia. Originally operating from Young and Harden, New South Wales, and focused on providing specialist agronomy advisory services, a full suite of farm inputs supply, Grain marketing, and Livestock and Property services tailored to local farming conditions.
From its inception, the company differentiated itself through a strong emphasis on technical agronomic expertise, decentralised decision‑making, and deep community engagement. During its early years, Delta expanded steadily by mergers and acquisitions and establishing new greenfield branches, allowing it to build a national footprint while retaining strong local relationships and staff continuity.
National supply strength with local market knowledge has made Delta Ag an industry leader across Australian agriculture.
Unique to the industry, the Delta Ag inclusive shareholder model was significant in the businesses growth, with staff given the opportunity to become shareholders of the business. This enabled the attraction and retention of great people, skin in the game and care factor around company and customer outcomes, and provided our people the opportunity to share the rewards of the companies collective efforts.
Delta Agribusiness grew rapidly and consistently into a multi-state operation, expanding across most key production markets across the country.. This period saw the business diversify beyond traditional agronomy and rural supplies into: Precision agriculture, Grain marketing, livestock and Property services, as well as Seasonal finance, and an on farm fuel distribution business across southern and central NSW.
By combining local branches with a coordinated national supply chain, Delta Ag became one of Australia’s largest independent agribusiness networks with 68 branches and 450 employees.
In November 2024, Elders Limited announced an agreement to acquire 100% of Delta Agribusiness, subject to regulatory approval. Following review by the Australian Competition and Consumer Commission, the acquisition was approved and completed on 4 November 2025.
As of 2026, Delta Ag continues to operate as a distinct independently and stand-alone agribusiness brand within the Australian rural landscape, maintaining its focus on agronomy led advisory services, independent branch operations, and regional community engagement while continuing to partner with farmers to make the right decisions.
